I
I bumped my head upon the bed in the dark as I turned and tossed
I opened my eyes and couldn’t say where I was as I was so lost
I cried out so loud that all the angels jumped startled from the grave
I knew that you would soon be there to tell me to behave
I saw the dark of the evening go as you walked in from the hall
I was sitting with tears in my eyes and you were not angry at all
I held out my arms towards the light as you stepped upon the rug
I felt your body encompass mine knowing I was in need of a hug
I cuddled in to your body there was no longer the need to weep
I languished there within your arms and drifted off back to sleep
