The night owl hoots when he's all alone
You can always tell by the slow hooting tone
He sits way up high at the top of a tree
Looking for food and he's looking for me
As I am a mouse all small and afraid
Trying to dodge the wise old owl's raid
Under the shrubbery there where I creep
Always aware that I may have to leap
A dive for cover a chance to be free
I hope the owl does not come for me
A jump and a side step I trot and I roll
Bringing me closer to my little mouse hole
I see it in sight a few moments away
It looks like I shall not end up as his pray
A noise in the sky the owl he took wing
He hoots in the night and my little ears ring
A swish in the night I can here the owl dive
But I am in my hole I’m safe and alive
Alone in my nest to my deity I pray
As I here the owl he’s flying away
